This is clearly a bug! Whenever a table contains a content control that cannot be deleted, the user cannot insert a column anywhere in the table, and the (row) Insert Above and Insert Below command do not function if the selected row contains a locked content control (red area in illustration below). Notice that no row or column is inserted. Only the placeholder text remains Word removes the items in the list. objCC.Type wdContentControlRichText After running the above code, the content control is no longer a drop-down it is a text content control. With the cursor in the cell containing the content control, click the "Table Tools Layout" tab and then click either "Insert Above, Insert Below, Insert Right or Insert Left" in the "Row & Columns" group.
